College Planning

College planning is a process that starts well before your college applications are completed and submitted your senior year. Birds of a Feather offers in-depth guidance about college planning to help you put your best foot forward as early as the summer before 9th grade. 

Because high school counselors often have such large case loads, their schedule may not allow them to help guide you every step of the way. For a more specialized approach to college planning, schedule an initial session to gain a better understanding of the admissions process.

An initial college planning session includes an audit of your current high school transcript, a customized look at which courses best set you up for academic success based on what you plan to major in, important courses to consider adding to your course load to garner attention from college admissions representatives, how to demonstrate depth in your current extracurricular pursuits, and the importance of cultivating a positive rapport with admissions representatives through demonstrated interest. 

At the end of your initial session, you can expect to have a clear sense of the college planning process and know what areas you need to dedicate more time and attention to.
